Applied Codeology
Description:
This is a six week course that will be held on Wednesdays beginning September 1st and continuing through October 6th. This class will start at 5:30pm and will wrap up at 9:00PM. This course teaches a systematic approach to using and understanding the electrical code book. This is a good class for individuals planning on taking the Iowa Electrical Exam. The cost for this course will be $55.00. You will also need a 2008 National Electrical Code Book. A Soft back Code Book is $61.50 while supplies last. The registration deadline for this class will be August 18th. Joe Praught will be the instructor for this class. This class will be registered with the State of Iowa for 21 Code related hours of Continuing Education.

Journeyman Wireman/Advanced Welding
Description:
This class will be held weekly on Tuesdays beginning September 7th and will continue through November 9th. This class will be held from 5:30PM to 9:00PM. The cost of this course will be $100.00. You will have an opportunity to take a certification test for vertical up and overhead welding at the end of this course which will add two additional nights to the course. The registration deadline for this class will be August 24th. Registration for this course will be on a first come basis with room for only 8 individuals in the class. 2008 National Electrical Code Change Course
Description:
This is a five week course that covers the most significant changes to the National Electrical Code. The class will be held from 5:30 PM to 9:15 PM. The books needed for the class will be the 2008 National Electrical Code Book and the NJATC Significant Changes Book. The Significant Changes Book will be $34.00, a paperback Code Book is $61.50 while supplies last. The class will be held on Mondays starting on September 20th continuing through October 25th. The registration deadline for this class will be September 6th. Charlie Graf will be the instructor for this class. This course will be submitted to the State of Iowa for 18 hours of code related CEU's.

High Resistance Grounded Power Systems
Description:
This is a one night class on Wednesday October 6th from 5:30PM to 9:30PM. This class will cover typical high resistance grounded industrial power systems, how they operate and why they are used. System voltages, fault detection, advantages and disadvantages will be covered along with NEC Article 250 installation requirements. Jeff Gross will be the instructor. This course will be submitted to the state of Iowa for 4 hours of code related CEU’s.

Article 240 Overview
Description:
: This will be a one night course covering general overcurrent protection of conductors as required by Article 240, discussion to focus on Branch-Circuit, feeder tap rules from Article 240. Students will need a copy of the 2008 NEC available at the JATC office for $61.50 while supplies last. A calculator, paper and pencil will also be required. This will be a 4 hour course held on Tuesday October 12th from 5:30PM until 9:00PM. The registration deadline for this class will be September 28th. Heat Tracing Applications
Description:
This course teaches the basic types of electrical heat tracing applications, voltages, code requirements (NEC Articles 426 and 427), safety aspects and proper installation and commissioning. This course will cover commercial and industrial applications. This will be a 1 night course held on Tuesday, October 12th. Classroom hours will be from 5:30PM until 8:30PM. Andy Sauder from Tyco Thermal Controls will teach this class. All participants will receive Certification Cards. The registration deadline for this class will be September 28th. This class will be registered with the State of Iowa for 3 Code related hours of Continuing Education. There are no fees associated with this course.

Health Care Systems
Description:
This is a five week course that will cover the proper application of codes and standards in the Health Care Industry. Students will begin with an introduction and history of the subject and then examine applicable codes and standards from NFPA 70 as well as NFPA 99. This course will be held weekly on Wednesday’s beginning on October 13th continuing through November 10th. The books needed for this course will be the Health Care Systems Textbook and Workbook. The cost for the books will be $48.00. Classroom hours will be from 5:30PM until 9:15PM. The registration deadline for this class will be September 29th. Cindy Burke-Gibson will be the instructor.
